James (George) PICKEN, born 02/10/1838, Devonport, Devon
« on: Monday 17 May 21 16:09 BST (UK) »
Hello,

It is understood James PICKEN, a private in the 1st Battalion 60th Rifles, died of cholera and was buried at Chinsurah, West Bengal, on 29/05/1858.

I am trying to establish (a) what date and where he enlisted and (b) if he was the James PICKEN mentioned in the caption above, son of James and Eliza PICKEN.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your message.

I have the FindMyPast reference which then directs you to TNA WO25/3404,   Sadly, these records have not been digitised and I am loathe to raise a mortgage to pay TNA's research fees for an investigation that may prove negative.   James PICKEN represents less than 1% of my overall PhD dissertation coverage.

For now
