Looking at the service number you have given, and looking at where I can find similar service numbers I'd say he was with the Royal Army Service Corps. Unfortunately I cannot find an Alfred Abbott with that service number in the Royal Army Service Corps medal rolls. The Royal Army Service Corps medal rolls are organized by service number, and on the page that he should be on there is a gap of four missing numbers between service numbers T2/SR/01710 and T2/SR/01715, the last of which is the service number you have given.

The only trace of this service number that I can find is a disability pension index card for a Sergeant Alfred Abbott, born in 1868, and discharged on 11 June 1919, who was serving with the Royal Army Service Corps. The original card can be found on Fold3, but given his age it's quite possible he never served overseas and therefore never qualified for any medals, which would explain why there is no medal index card or entry in the medal rolls for him.

wow really I never knew that he was that old and maybe that's why he didn't get any medals which is a damn shame

If you don't have access he attested 1914 and demobbed 1919, no details of overseas, he was 44 when he attested. His previous service number was 8170, very long file from 1888.

This is his records on Ancestry
He is listed under Home 16-5-1888 to 15-5-1901 so no overseas service.
He re-joined from 23-2-1903 to 22-2-1907.

Have just looked through his long service record - some parts very interesting in his early days in the Army.

There was an entry for the 16th October 1915 when he was 'up on a charge'. The entry records that it took place at Abergavenny (Wales) and the charge was 'Leaving the lines without permission'. He was found guilty and the punishment was recorded as 'severely reprimanded' -- this along with no medal index card would indicate that he did not serve oversea during WW1

Should have mentioned that he enlisted on the 7th November 1914 as a Driver, promoted to a Corporal on the 25th November 1914 and Sergeant on the 1st December 1914.
