Maggie CAMERON 1882-?
« on: Friday 21 May 21 03:52 BST (UK) »
Maggie was the daughter of Thomas and Caroline ROWLES (nee ALEXANDER) and was born at Kiwitea, New Zealand in 1882. In 1902 she married John Charles CAMERON in NZ. They had a daughter in 1903 who died at one month old.

Maggie applied for a separation order from her husband in 1904 but it was refused by the Court.

Nothing more on her in NZ until her father Thomas ROWLES died in 1925 and in his NZ Obituary it states that his daughter Mrs J CAMERON is at Blues Point in Sydney.

Has anyone come across this lady anywhere.

Many thanks.

Hi there,

To be eligible to enrol to vote in state and federal elections in the 1930s, you needed to be aged at least 21 years, and be a British subject (no such thing as Australian citizen until 1949) and reside at the address for at least six months....

So looking at the 1933, 1934, NSW electoral roll for North Sydney, and polling at Milson's Point (which included Blues Point Road) ... for the surname CAMERON ... I can see several with the surname CAMERON... none as Maggie, but this one may be of interest:

Robert Annandale CAMERON, 125 Blues Point Road, a storeman.  I wonder if he was connected to the Cameron family in NZ...

NSW BDM has his death registered in 1946, registered at North Sydney.  #20076/1946

There's some domestic issues covered in a number of newspaper reports under that name  https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/

ADD,  I should mention that I checked Sands NSW Alphabetical for 1925, and did not find a possible Mrs J CAMERON of Blues Point

Hi

I am wondering if she returned to NZ

Find a grave has a record of
Margaret Cameron
BIRTH   1882    DEATH   14 Sep 1953 (aged 70–71)
BURIAL      Terrace End Cemetery
Palmerston North, Palmerston North City, Manawatū-Whanganui

Cass

I don't think this lady is the one you are after, just found on Ancestry the record of burial which states that this Margaret's hubby was William Brown Cameron who died 4.9.1938   sorry    Cass

Maybe worth requesting a lookup of the probate packet which often contains death certificate and other valuable information. https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=703011.243
