The three and twentieth day of June in the year of our Lord God 1717, I Roger Philpot of Kingsgate in the Parish of St Peter the apostle in the Isle of Thanet in the Country of Kent Common Beer Brewer being very Sick and Weak in Body but perfect mind and memory. Thanks be given unto God, therefore, calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament (that is to say) principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of God that gave it and for my Body I Commend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named.
