1939 Register - see page 16
« on: Saturday 22 May 21 10:55 BST (UK) »
I'm wondering if anyone  could help please?

My grandmother has a line through her entry and states 'see page 16' but I can't find it? I've scrolled to the end of the pages but can't spot her again?

Her name is Elsie Copeland, born 09 June 1922 in Uttoxeter, Staffs.

Also, she married my grandad in 1940 but her married name isn't on the entry? Does that simply mean she didn't inform her GP of her marriage? She died in 1962 in hospital so I'm surprised her new  surname wasn't added to the register at some point.

Her entry wasn't visible when the register was first released so I sent in her birth, marriage and death cert.

Any help would be appreciated!

Many Thanks
Helen

Her name could still be blacked out on page 16.

My mothers record is also only showing with her maiden name and the NHS saw her quite a few times  :).  I do have her marriage certificate  ::)

It could as said still be closed, there is unlikely to be much additional info on the 2nd page but it could be in the next book/section see https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/1939-register/ or my reply the other week here https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=848482.0

Thanks to you both. Just a bit baffled why her name should be crossed out. Thanks again though.

Maybe she was not at home on the 'day' the register was taken but her parents had added her

See section 8 in the National archives link that Jon_ni posted above. It explains why and where you might locate the "new" entry.
