MIC on Ancestry:

Name:   Jack Lount
Regiment or Corps:   1/4 Leic R, Cameronian (Scottish Rifles)
Regimental Number:   3199, 316516

Tony

Thanks, I've seen the MIC and Medal Rolls (for the 14-15 Star, BW and V Medals) for 3199/316516 now, but there's no mention of 200681 anywhere - except on his MM listing in the London Gazette.

Any ideas, please?

The 1/4 Leicester regiment was a territorial battalion so will have been renumbered in 1917.  The renumbering for the 4th started at 200001.

All I can suggest is that his number wasn't updated on the relevant records, then after he recovered from his wounds he was transferred to the Scottish Rifles as 316516.  Their 15th Battalion had been renumbered 315001-340000.
MORGAN: Glamorgan, Durham, Ohio. DAVIS/DAVIES/DAVID: Glamorgan, Ohio.  GIBSON: Leicestershire, Durham, North Yorkshire.  RAIN/RAINE: Cumberland.  TAYLOR: North Yorks. BOURDAS: North Yorks. JEFFREYS: Worcestershire & Northumberland. FORBES: Berwickshire, CHEESMOND: Durham/Northumberland. WINTER: Durham/Northumberland. SNOWBALL: Durham.
