unusual death ?
« on: Saturday 22 May 21 19:56 BST (UK) »
Looking for some help with local sources to Stafford. My normal research grounds are Ireland / West Wales / West country, so this is an odd one.
This lady, Irene Violet King (nee Kiviatkowski) is a great Aunt, married in Dundalk Ireland, and had an address in Dublin at the time of her death.
According to the probate records(15 Mar 1960), she died
"12 October 1958 in a street in Stafford"
So she wasn't living there, maybe visiting, but it's an odd description, so I wondered if it made the courts or the local newspapers. Can't find anything on "British Newspapers online", so does any one know of local archive sources that could help ?
 Thanks in advance,
Geoff

Could you obtain her death certificate?
Though she was not at home her home address will be on it I am pretty certain.
How intriguing.
Viktoria.

I've spent a lot of time recently searching burial registers and I've seen several entries that give the person's home address and stated the place of death as "on the street", I assume (rightly or wrongly) that to mean that the person collapsed and died while walking along a street.

I would obtain her Will they can be a great source of information.....and are relatively easy and cheaper to obtain.
I see Irene Violet King was 96 when she died.... the Will was  administered on 15 March 1960.. London.... to  George Symmott King..... Salesman..... London.....Could this be her son? named after her husband.... and not her husband as one would suspect him to be of similar age and he would not be working at that age??  [Only a thought]
It also says she died in a street in Stafford and agree with Bee's suggestion.

The death information is different on my source re her age.
I looked up the birthplace to check if I had found the right person, that’s all. Is that what you mean? I just thought it might confirm the information given. (Maiden name).

We are all trying to help and we haven’t been able to solve this. As has been suggested, the death certificate would give cause of death.

This is the entry from the GRO indexes.
I don't know where you've got the age of 96 from?
