This doesn't help with William but is this the family in 1841?

James Powell b 1816  shoem(aker)
John b 1819 charcoal collier
Eliza b 1821
Absolom b 1829 all b Gloucestershire
365/3/1 book 11
If it is the correct family
1851
Staunton
Elizabeth Ann Powell 1787 St Nicholas, Gloucestershire seamstress
James Powell 1816 Newland, Gloucestershire shoe maker's master
Absolom Powell 1829 Staunton, Gloucestershire labourer
2444/374/6
She is Elizabeth Ann on the marriage
1861

James Powell head  1816 Newland, Gloucestershire
Postmaster, grocer & cordwainer
Eliza Powell  wife 1827 English Bicknor, Gloucestershire
Elizabeth Ann Powell mother 1786 Gloucestershire upholsterer

These records, although on Ancestry etc. are on the

Forest of Dean Family History Forum

https://forest-of-dean.net

If you don't belong to the website, it's free and just have to register.

There appear to be many William & Elizabeth POWELL's listed, for example, one being a Shoemaker the other being a Lime Burner.

The website also has the facility to search for witnesses at wedding etc. very useful to work out family groups/friends etc.

Also under Resources, the website holds thousands of transcribed, Gloucestershire Marriage Licences 1637-1837 and Marriage Bonds 1730-1823

This is how, James POWELL baptism has been transcribed and if the transcriber can't make out the name cleary the name is put in brackets.

8 May 1814

James POWELL

father: W[illia]m

mother: Elizab[e]th  Ann

residence: Whitecliff

occupation Lab[oure]r or Limeburner

Found the 12 Feb 1835 burial on Ancestry and Family Search - but, again, no image available. Neither has the age at death recorded.

?

Gloucestershire Record Office - lists an Overseers Report for

a William POWELL - in 1841

address: St Nicholas, Gloucester.

At the last baptism of Absolom POWELL  26 October 1828, - William POWELL was a Gamekeepr at Whippington's Brook.

----

As my x Grandfather was a Gamekeeper - records could be at Gloucestershire Record Office - re Gamekeeper's - (my x Grandfather's were)
