Yes that’s the one - those regiments but he enrolled in Cardiff.
There are a few blank and faded parts. It is available on the two main subscription sites -Ancestry and Find my Past.

I just looked at the faded enrolment paper - ‘are you married?’ ‘No, Widower’.
There is a mention of ‘overlapping toes’ which you will recognise  ;)

Esther is mentioned 1918, I realise, re an allowance dated 24.5.18 as Esther O’Brien, Olive Street Aberavon. Relationship ‘Un/O Wife. (Not sure what that means. ) on another page it says ‘unmarried wife’.

He gives his address as 10 George Street, Mount Pleasant, Neath.

Unfortunately I do not have subscriptions to those sites.
Who had the overlapping toes?

Francis creek on his military  records - you refer to ‘hammer toes’ earlier.
I have given you the social details really, the records are poor quality.

I looked for any thing to help here https://newspapers.library.wales/

The only reference I can see to Francis is in 1913 - charged with having a dog without a licence. His address is 19, Cornwall Street, Aberavon.

I asked because my wife always believed it was her great grandmother had the hammer toes, but it looks like it was her great grandfather after all!
We also had no idea he had ever lived in Aberavon. Understandable if Esther lived there.

Let’s hope the birth or marriage details help.

I know the census is not indexed on place, but is there any way of finding who lived in Olive Street, Aberavon, in 1911? Esther O'Brien was there in 1918 according to the military records.

I tried guessing a few likely names (like Jones!) but no luck.

The address was 7 Olive Street.
I did look through and I can’t see it. ::)

Find my past has an address search and the numbers jump from 6 to 42.

Yes, unfortunately I think it uses modern addresses, not the ones of the time. When it was opened for free at one time, I found that. Thanks for trying, anyway.
As for his previous wife Kate Presley, there is a birth of Emily Kate Prisley in Clutton in 1873.
She died Feb 1901 in Clutton, presumably in childbirth.
