O'Brien killed on railway

I didn't see a birth in Irish records for and Esther O'Brien (or similar)- which is not to say it wasn't there, just that I couldn't find it. When Esther married in 1918, according to 1939 Register birthdate, she would have been about 42 years old- not impossible to have a son but late for a first-time mother.
Have you found any records which give her birthplace even as Ireland?

However, there are hundreds and hundreds of railway accidents in the newspapers and without a specific time period it's quite hard to narrow them down. Also an accident might not necessarily have made the papers.

It's possible an incident was reported but no name mentioned or was in a newspaper not online.

Thanks for trying anyway. We assume the accident was in Ireland, maybe in the 1880's or thereabout.

We believe it was Ireland, and we understand she was brought up by nuns - that's all. Nothing definite

She doesn’t seem to be in Neath in 1911.

The marriage certificate would perhaps give her father’s name if she knew that. She would be in her 40s on marriage.

Do you have Frank’s birth certificate?

There is a birth record 1914, Neath for Francis W Creek with mother’s name  Burke.

Is that Frank?

The reason I'm now questioning 'Ireland' as her birthplace is that a large number of Irish people settled in Cardiff/Swansea areas. When I was tracing my cousins family I found a census record that gave place of birth as "Cardiff, Ireland" and turned out that person was born in Cardiff to Irish parents.

This child died in the same quarter as birth.

We have never heard of John, but it is surely possible. They didn't marry until 1918 though

Yes, we see the marriage year.
Frank must have been born before the marriage. His registration shows a mother’s surname of Burke.

It would be best to get Frank’s birth certificate to check the details and the marriage certificate too for the same reasons.
