There's a newspaper article from Beds Times of 2 June 1888 about a wedding of Miss Mary Jane, oldest surviving daughter of Mr A G Haddow of Wrest Park, Silsoe to William Smith of Croydon. It was at the Old Chapel Clifton so I am assuming this was a Baptist church marriage rather than an Anglican parish marriage.

** later ** Another newspaper report from Luton News 12 Oct 1889 of a wedding of John Cornwell of Shefford to Miss Lizzie Haddow, daughter of Mr A G Haddow of Wrest Park, again at the Baptist Chapel Clifton.

So it seems that the Haddows are Baptists rather than Anglicans

Cheers John

LizzieL - I'd like to look into that. When you say local contact do you mean at Wrest Park ?

johnP-bedford - We've just started searching the online catalogue + found that lil gem so definitely would like to see if possible. Yes, that's our Mary Jane + there is also her sister's Lizzie's marriage - great detail in the article!

I have the letter from Wrest Park to my Nan regarding her visiting there in 1949 + photos she took so would really like to follow in her footsteps  :)

Thank you all for your help.
After visiting Biggleswade + surrounding areas we found the Baptist Chapel at Clifton where Archibald, Sarah Jane + two of their children are buried + also Archibald's parents.
The volunteer at Wrest Park, Richard, was great. After touring the grounds he took us on a tour of the house + not-so-public areas where Archibald worked for most of his life + showed us where he lived at Home Farm.
As well as other paperwork for him I now have the marriage certificate showing Clifton Chapel +
Sarah Jane Coles Father was indeed William Coles, Master Blacksmith so on with the tree!
Once again thank you all
Regards
Deb
