A Raph Claxton son of Hamond Claxton of Pulham Market, Norfolk was apprenticed to Barnay Morden of London December 1647. The date is possibly when apprenticeship ended. The record is in Latin. Image on FindMyPast

Thanks for all the latest info Lizzie, especially the info above, I don't have a sub with FindMyPast the best I can do is the initial Search.

Tomorrow I'm going to put all the info in chronological order and see what it looks like.

The 1576 marriage of Rafe Claxon to Emme Stacy would see them as contenders for being grandparents of Rafe Classun c1594.  :)

Concentrating currently on:
Essex: Card, Harris, Stowell, Theobald/Tibbles & Turner.
Norfolk: Beale, Cork & Dalton.
Yorkshire: Oswald Sturdy birth/baptism c1708, Oswald where the devil are you?

Have you seen the PCC will for Ralph Clackson dated 1589?
Ancestry have his name as 'Radi', but the will itself is clear.  Wife is Emme.  Children:  Richard, John, Sybell, Emme, Mary, Sara - and Emme is expecting another.

Good find!
That fits with the marriage to Emme in Chislehurst and Sybell's baptism found earlier.

Hi Lizzie,
I came across what I think are the burials for the Hammond Claxton and his wife Mary.
Mary the wife of Ham. Claxton buried 9 Feb 1648 at Lincoln, Lincolnshire.
Hammond Claxton buried 12 Nov 1653 at Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

Those details are from Family Search, not much help in the scheme of things I know but someone might be interested, it does show the that family's later location however and the first name of Hammond's wife.

To get my head round what has been found I have put together a timeline.

27 May 1576: Rafe Claxon married Emme Stacy at Chislehurst, Kent.
1 Dec 1619: Ralph Claxton married Elizabeth Butler at St Mary, Newington, Surrey.
1629: Ralph Claxton buried at St Martin Le Bow, London.

Children of Rafe and Emme Claxon
Richard, John, Sybell, Emme, Mary and Sara.  This info from the PCC will of Rafe dated 1589.
Sybell was baptised 24 Feb 1577 at St Dunstan in the East.

Other info.
10 Dec 1670: Thomas the son of Ralph and Elizabeth Claxton was baptised at Holborn St Andrew, Ralph's occupation noted as a Tailor.
Dec 1677: Ralph Claxton the son of Hammond Claxton of Pulham Market Norfolk was Apprenticed to Barnay Morden of London.
9 Feb 1648: Mary wife of Ham. Claxton buried at Lincoln, Lincolnshire.
12 Nov 1653: Hammond Claxton buried at Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

I had a try on Family search this morning to find a Rafe/Raphe born about 1594 who could be the father of  Rafe Classon husband of Frances Gun but no luck.  I am wondering if the trail could lead back Rafe and Emme Claxon, there were stacks of Claxtons from Kent plus other counties but no Rafe or Ralph in the right time frame, I'll keep trying.  :)
