John and Bridget Doolan baptism, marriage, death
« on: Friday 28 May 21 12:20 BST (UK) »
On 31 December 1851 John, Mary and William Doolan left Plymouth on the ship David McIver and arrived Australia 19 May 1852. Their parents were John and Bridget Doolan. The immigration records show William as living near Tubbrid and Mary living near Cahir. John Doolan (son) baptism was 11 December 1832 Kilcommon Tipperary, diocese Cashel and Emly. Mary's baptism was 11 September 1836. William was born around 1827.

Trying to find details for the parents John and Bridget Doolan. Do not know the maiden name for Bridget Doolan.

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Here's the baptism page from the catholic parish register at Kilcommon, buts it's impossible to read Bridget's surname (there's a splodge over part of it) - bottom of right hand page.

Maybe post the image on the Handwriting Deciphering and Recognition board to see if anyone can improve the image.

Best of luck.

Bridget's maiden surname should be on the marriage certificates of the three children.  You need to see that before assuming you have the correct baptisms.

Kilcommon is an area south of Cahir near Tubrid. This is in the Diocese of Waterford.
This Kilcommon is not to be mixed up with the Parish of Kilcommon which is much further north of the county of Tipperary in the Diocese of Cashel and Emly.

Thanks. I have ordered copies of the marriage certificate for John Doolan to Rosanna Quinn in 1876 and for Mary Doolan to John Flinne in 1862. Will take a little while to obtain hard copies.

rootsireland transcribes Bridget's surname as Meara. One of the sponsors is Roger Mara, so that makes sense.

By the way all three immigration records show the ages for each of Mary, William and  John Doolan and each show the parents as John and Bridget Doolan.

Not sure though

There are these baptisms:
James Doolan  17 May 1828 Cappawhite - John Doolan and Biddy Mara
Michael Doolan 16 August 1836 Anacarty and Donohill  - John Doolan and Briget Mora

These dates would affect yours for Mary and possibly William.
