Royal Artillery Service Record 1800’s
« on: Saturday 29 May 21 09:09 BST (UK) »
I’m trying to find the service record (or any record) of a Hugh Blair who was in the Royal Artillery and who died during a hurricane in Barbados in 1831 (source here - https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=jjwSAAAAYAAJ&pg=RA11-PA6&lpg=RA11-PA6&dq=hugh+blair+barbados+hurricane&source=bl&ots=KSnSvBLjg6&sig=ACfU3U2ns_1Rx3m3uUKtLCCIfO7_jO3p9A&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiImo_HtO7wAhUKA2MBHUW_BicQ6AEwD3oECAgQAg#v=onepage&q=hugh%20blair%20barbados%20hurricane&f=false)

Someone on Ancestry has linked this man to a Hugh Blair who was thought to have married my ancestors sister, and it would explain a potential marriage of her niece in Barbados also… I’m pretty intrigued but can’t find the service record on FindMyPast, but I’ve struggled to find a few on there especially for mid 1800’s

Any ideas where I could look to find the service record of more information?

Thank you so much! Monaghan is the right area and Elizabeth the right name so looks like it could well be correct. It’s a shame that hasn’t been digitised, I may order them at some point. Thank you!
