A house in El Paso, Texas
« on: Saturday 29 May 21 18:10 BST (UK) »
Can someone who does Facebook take a look at the "Then and Now:  The Henry C. Trost ...".  I'd like to know what it says about the architect and about the original owner of the house who I believe was Charles F. Morse.  Here's the link:

"The home itself was designed by Henry C. Trost in a Tudor-Craftsman mix,"

Thanks, Kloumann.  Not very informative but so it goes.

Also-
"The home itself was designed by Henry C. Trost in a Tudor-Craftsman mix, with half-timbers on a stucco surface announcing the front. The large enclosed porch, huge front corner pillars, and large overhanging eaves are reminiscent of Trost's Arid America style, designed to keep this southern-facing home cool in the hot summers. The design of the home is largely unchanged today, although the wood has been painted over. At 109 years old, it is in run-down condition but appears to be sound. The home is representative of a handful of 1910-ish Trost Tudor-flavored properties, including the Krupp Residence, Mathias Residence, and the recently destroyed Robert Krakauer home.
This is one of many Trost residences that at first is easily overlooked, but bears a lot of history and shows Henry's subtle brilliance in not only visual design, but also practical. We're curious whether the current residents even know their home was designed by the Maestro?"
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks, Genealiza.  I had seen those.  I wonder who genealogy bug5964 is?  There aren't very many descendants in that branch of the family.  Mrs. L.W. Chapman was the wife of gg-uncle Joseph Chapman, one of the few who headed south.  He was a county judge in Missouri.

Nothing in particular, Genealiza.  I have the basic outline of his life and a few newspaper articles concerning him, his wife [known to me as 'Cousin Lizzie'], his children and his one grandchild.  So the story is fairly complete but I'm always looking to put more flesh on the bones, hence the question about the house.  Charles Morse's father, Bliss Morse, was apparently quite an accomplished man.  He kept extensive diaries during his time in the Union Army which have been published but I haven't found them to read online.
