I'm certainly no expert on football teams, but I can't see any reference to "Serpills" .

The Reading Football Club were nicknamed "Biscuitmen" from an association with the biscuit company Huntley and Palmers.

The other biscuit company in Reading was "Serpell's" originally started by the Serpell family in Plymouth which moved to Reading in 1899 and ceased trading in the 1950s.

Not able to find anything about a Serpell's football team.

Reading FC (the professional team) played at Elm Park from 1896 until 1998.

No mention of your chap on https://www.worldfootball.net/teams/reading-fc/10/?

1920 was when Reading FC joined the Football League, helping to form Division 3.

There are a few mentions of I presume the right chap in newspapers, eg:

"... One is David Spence, a little
left winger from Paisley, who did well first
with Reading, then with Walsall. Last
November he had created such an impression
that Oldham Athletic paid a big fee for his
transfer; he played four games for the Lac-
ties, and he's now gone to Pontypridd, and
who will say that there is not a wide gap
between the two clubs. ..."

For a sense of timeline, Pontypridd AFC were dissolved in 1926.

There is a photo

Paisley born winger David SPENCE started playing for hometown club St Mirren in 1919 before joining Reading a year later making his Football League debut in their inaugural Leagure fixture at Newport County in August 1920.  He scored once in 20 appearances in a single season at Elm Park before joining Walsall in the summer of 1021, scoring 4 goals in 49 appearances before First Division Oldham Athletic stepped in etc. etc.  and later playing for Reading Serpills in 1926.

Can see David SPENCE married in Berkshire 1922.

Taunton United was a non-league team, playing in the Southern League, Western Division and also the Western League, Division 1.

In 1927, they changed their name to Taunton Town FC.
