Gwynne Beynon born abt 1906 Australia?
« on: Monday 31 May 21 09:33 BST (UK) »
Hello

Hoping someone with access to Australian records can help? Ancestry suggests a possible DNA match of a descendant of Gwynne to me. I currently don’t have Gwynne in my tree but I do have what looks to be here probable parents John Henry Beynon born Swansea and Olivia Thomas born 1868 Llanelly, married 24 Feb 1898 Llanelly. I have that they had a daughter Emma (therefore sister of Gwynne) born 24 Nov 1898, Laughharne, Carmarthenshire. According to the 1901 census John Henry Beynon was a Calvinistic Methodist Minister and it looks like the family emigrated to Australia. I can’t find Gwynne’s birth in the GRO, so I am assuming Gwynne was born Australia and the family emigrated sometime between 1901-1906.

Thank you

Hi,

Ancestry has a mishmash of indexes for some of the historic bdm registations for Australia.  On the other hand, RootsChat's resources board for Australia has childboards for each of the eight separate jurisdictions that make up the federation of Australia.  There, for no charge, you can find live links to most of the bdm online indexes for historic registrations.

This seems to be the family's arrival in Australia:
BEYNON  Henry    35    minister
Olivia                      35
Emma                      6
Mary                        4

leaving Liverpool, arriving Albany, West Australia 15 June 1905 on the Suevic.

Not sure how they travelled to NSW, but he was inducted as minister at Singleton (NSW) on 16 Nov 1905

Possible birth registration for Mary:
Mary Grace BEYNON Sep qtr 1901 Carmarthen (11a/1209) mmn THOMAS
