Spanner
« on: Monday 31 May 21 23:42 BST (UK) »
Hi
In 1939 Our great grandmother had her niece Mary Elizabeth Rutter living at their house on  Long Bank & from what I can remember she was our great aunt's best friend. Dec Q Mary married Norman E Pinder in Gateshead. Norman is a bit of a spanner. He was born 16 July 1919 in Weardale & on his Birth record at 1919 his mother's maiden name is Gowland.....In 1939  Norman was in Weardale with Edward C Pinder & his wife Ellen formerly Dennison & Not Gowland....Edward C married Jan Q 1919
Any ideas? Need to get my thinking cap on. ??? ???
Cheers Bill B

Wow Comberton
Ellen =Nellie Gowland Mar Alfred Dennison  DEC Q1910

Marriages Mar 1919   (>99%)
Pinder    Edward C    Dennison    Weardale    10a   475

   PINDER, NORMAN  ERNEST     GOWLAND
GRO Reference: 1919  S Quarter in WEARDALE  Volume 10A  Page 546

Norman was born after they married so should they have put Dennison or Gowland?

Also
Marriages Jun 1917
Pinder    Edward C    Egglestone    Weardale    10a   437

So I wonder if Edward C was married a few times,,,,There seems to be nothing to link him to Weardale

The GRO Birth Reference always gives the maiden name of the mother eg the surname she was born with and which she used prior to any marriages.

It looks like Edward was also married in 1917 to Mary H Egglestone and was also widowed early.
Death
Mary H Pinder
Dec 1917 Weardale
also a son Thomas Pinder born and died Dec 1917 Weardale.
A lot of sadness for Ellen and Edward.

Electoral rolls for Durham 1920-1931
Front Street, Frosterley ( matches CWGC record)
Edward Clark Pinder
Nellie Pinder
From 1924 onwards also William Harvey Pinder with them.

Birth
Edward Clark Pinder
Dec 1867 Ecclesall Bierlow
mmn Clark
1911 census has him as a widower and William Harvey Pinder as his son.

Edward's first marriage 1895 Ecclesall Bierlow to Marian Gertrude Dodds, she died 1906.
I hope he had longer with Ellen.

An odd one to add
Edward James Pinder was the brother to William Harvey Pinder with the same mother.
Birth   abt 1901
Death   11 Sep 1944
Burial   Israel
Father   Edward Clark Pinder
Mother   Margaret Pinder

Who the heck was Margaret? WGC Mistake?
