Help to identify uniform

Hi, very new to this but hoping somebody maybe able to help.
I have very little information about the gentlemen pictured except he was born about 1913 in Dunbartonshire, Scotland. He married in Gateshead, Durham in 1933. His wife and daughters appear on the 1939 Register in Shildon, Durham but no sign of him so assume he is in the Forces somewhere?
Hoping that the uniform may identify Regiment etc. so I have a chance to trace where he may have been during 1939.

Although very blurry, the Cap badge look like Royal Artillery, but I can’t say what branch..

If he was in the army in 1939 he will not appear on the 1939 Register; there was a separate register for the services.
