South African Immigrants 1800's
« on: Thursday 03 June 21 01:45 BST (UK) »

Hi everyone,

I have been trying to find information, on my Great Grandfather Michael Bain, but he seems to have appeared out of nowhere. The only 2 documents I have is his marriage certificate to Maria Fancutt, nee Talbot in Grahamstown in 1844 and his death certificate in 1868 at Buffalo Thorns. I cannot find any entry for when he arrived in SA. On his death certificate it mentions he was born in Tipperary in 1814. He may have had a sister as well called Elizabeth (Eliza) Bain who married Benjamin Hall the same day and church and Michael.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been through Naairs, family search, list of ships to SA and haven't found anything.

Regards
Rob
