O'Hanlon/Hanratty Marriage
« on: Thursday 03 June 21 14:24 BST (UK) »
Just realised that I have been researching the wrong James O'Hanlon :o
My James married Anne Hanratty dont know where cant find the marriage anywhere, had a son James born in Armagh in 1864 but rest of children all 9 of them born and lived in Dundalk, I know this information is correct just trying to find where my James was born or where he married Anne or where she was born.

You don’t give any dates other than James’ birth.

Do you have the family in censuses?

I can see baptisms for children to James O’Hanlon and Ann Hanratty but they range from 1848.
Here is Bridget born 1865

My Bridget was born in 1872 siblings are
James , Thomas, Edward, Bernard, Joseph.
Anne, Elizabeth,

I believe they lived in Bridge St Dundalk
I know there are others with same names as James O'Hanlon  & Anne Hanratty who also had children similar to mine O'Hanlon family which makes it hard except I know James the father was a locksmith

yes that's Bridget and one of her brothers
I believe James was the oldest but I could not locate his birth cert in Armagh were he supposedly was born, know that  he married in Scotland but again came back to live in Dundalk where he died in 1949 aged 85 yrs. old

Thank you for your replies

Do his parents names come from his marriage details?
Do you have him anywhere with those siblings to show the relationship?

More baptisms:

Cath O’Hanlon 22 December 1861, Dundalk - address Bridge Street parents James and Ann Hanratty
Pat O’ Hanlon 12 January 1863 - details as above

Mary, March 1865 - baptism has mother as Mary Hanratty but civil birth shows Ann.

Your James would be between Pat and Mary

Yes, James married in Scotland said born in Armagh also confirmed this by the census taken in Ireland 1901, father James O'Hanlon a locksmith and  mother Anne Hanratty.
I know for sure that he had sisters Bridget my g/grandmother, sister Anne, and Elizabeth and his brothers Edward and Thomas and brother Bernard and Joseph, all living in shields court Dundalk
yes newspaper article regarding the son James whose son was killed in 1921 and a will left by his daughter naming my Bridget's son my grandfather and Anne's son in a will.
Think they had a sister Mary killed in a house fire in Belfast in 1918, maybe a brother called Patrick, Just cannot find anything on the parents marriage or births

Thanks so much for your replies
