Thank youagain everyone.
It looks like David Christopher was born about 1760 +/- 1 (place unknown), then married Ann Somersel(l) / Somersal in Arundel on 25 July 1785. Their first child also David was baptised in Arundel on 22 Jan 1786. They had several more children baptised in Arundel at frequent intervals. The settlement certificate (23 Mar 1786) seems to imply they were resident in Bury and were being permitted to settle in Arundel. Although they had obviously been in Arundel for at least a few months before that. perhaps just legitimising the situation.
I believe Ann was  the daughter of James Somersal and Ann Steer who married at Fittleworth in 1755. There was an Ann bapt at Stopham on 9 May 1762 d/o James Somersal. There is a death of a James Somersal in Stopham in 1764 and baptism of a James s/o James and Ann in Stopham in 1765. The only Somersal children's record to have mother's name so I wonder if that implies he was babtised posthumously. There is a death of an Ann Somersall in Fittleworth in 1765, so I wonder if that was Ann nee Steer, returnng to family after James's death. Then the orphaned children brought up by Steer relatives. Maybe Ann met David Christopher in Fittleworth which isn't far from Bury.
David just seems such a mystery, no baptism and no death registration
