Deaths at sea
« on: Saturday 05 June 21 10:33 BST (UK) »
5 men including my ancestor William MUIR died at sea

From document I read that it was same year. same ship,
Varied death dates but all men seem to have same day of last payment

First two from cholera ?

Can anyone decipher the other causes and the dates .

The year is 1858 + do you think the ship is Tweeside

William MUIR + John Blane engaged in same day 3 aug 1858
They may have been friends from Lanarkshire Scotland

Lawson died of fever at Calcutta 18/7/58

Muir died of diarrhea at Calcutta 3/8/58

The ship is Tweedside

Blane and Muir engaged 3/1/1858

Thanks Shaun

Would never have read port as Calcutta

I just found a burial of a William MUIR in India but it was the year before ! 1857  strange coincidence !

Oh I see I thought it was the column titled port belongs to
The word looks like it starts with a G

A ship was probably unhealthy environment so death from diarrhoea + dysentry could be same thing sailors infecting each other in close quarters
Not sure about cholera deaths but only couple of months between them all

William MUIR s daughter was born before he embarked ( that time) but he didn't get around to marrying her mother
