Leonard Watterson/Waterson, born 1849-1853, Glasgow

I first find Leonard Watterson on the 1861 Glasgow census with parents Leonard Watterson and Rachel. He is age 8 so actually must be the son of Leonard and his first wife Jane McLaren. That would make him  born abt 1853 although I cannot find his birth. Other censuses vary as to his age. In 1881, Leonard is living with his brothers John and William in Glasgow. That is the last that I see of him. Did he emigrate? Die? Would love to find out what became of him.
Thanks for any help. I have tried to upload the 1881 census but the website will not allow. Leonard is 30, lemonade bottler, John is 47.

Do you know what happened to his brothers after 1881 in case they stayed close together?

1871 census has him boarding in Edinburgh, occupation is Bottler

Yes, I believe that is him in 1871 but in 1881, he is back in Glasgow with his married brother John and his half-brother William.

His brother John died Jan 19,1897 in Glasgow. His half-brother William died 1887 in Glasgow.

Hi Peggy not sure if you found his death but there is a death for a Leonard Watterson aged 57 years

This is a great find, Rosie17. I do think it is Leonard due to age and occupation. Also area of Castledawson is close to his father’s original residence. I tried to find Leonard on the 1891 and 1901 Scottish censuses and did not find him. Nor on the 1901 Irish census. On the 1881 Scottish census, he was still single.

Great find Sancti. That would be the Leonard's father Leonard born abt 1810 who was living at that address in 1882 when his son David died Sept 3, 1882.
We have found the deaths of son Leonard's brother John in 1897 and his brother David in 1882, verified by same mother's name Jane McLaren. But not his brother James who married Ann Nelson in 1869. In 1871, I find Ann on the census, says married, but James is not there, just their daughter Helen aka Ellen born 1870 and Ann's nephew Thomas Nelson. In 1881, Ann says she is a widow, living with daughter Ellen and nephew Thomas.
