Samuel James Deacon b 1855 Watton Norfolk
« on: Tuesday 08 June 21 01:56 BST (UK) »
According to the 1891 England Census, Samuel James Deacon lives with his wife Hannah. He was born in Watton, Norfolk, England. Civil parish: South Stoneham Ecclesiastical parish: Eastleigh Residence: Eastleigh, South Stoneham, Hampshire, England. He is a shoemaker by trade.

They have two sons Samuel James Deacon born in 1891 and Frank Harold John Deacon 1893.  He does not appear in any census before or after. In 1901, Hannah and the sons are together. In 1911, one son remains and Hannah is living with another man.

I am STUCK.  I don't know anything about his parents or what happened to him.

Can you help?

The 1891 census, if I have the correct one, only notes the name James Deacon 36?
Born Norfolk & Hannah 37 born Middlesex, which ties in with the 1901 for Hannah who is noted as married. GRO births & death for the boys you mention.

Thank you. I do know this information and have documentation of the family history beyond that point. But I don’t know what happened to Samuel James Deacon Senior - where did he go and where did he die? nor do I know anything about his lineage from Watton, Norfolk... I don’t know anything about his family. I don’t know where to look. I’m at a dead end.  There is a Samuel James Deacon that died in Reading Berkshire but he was a butcher and elsewhere  in the census of the same year.

Do you have the birth certificates of the sons mentioned by Colin, if so what information do they give.

You will need to remove that certificate and type out the details as we are not supposed to post the image in full.  That certificate copy was issued in 1985 so not the original  ;D
