Thanks to all who helped so much with Ernest Jobling :-)
I  hope I'm not pushing my luck but this photo too, if possible, would benefit from a clean and repair of the (luckily not on her face) creases.

Ethel was Ernest's sweetheart (later his wife) and while he was in the mud in the trenches thinking of her, she was back in Jarrow waiting and worrying about him.

We, quite rightly, remember and respect the boys who went to serve, but in a different way those who had to carry on at home suffered too.  I can't even begin to imagine how hard it was for those at home never knowing if the next day the telegram which would shatter their lives would arrive.

Don't think I have ever been able to choose one result in here over another - they are all improved from the originals but somehow each one is everso slightly different from the next. Fascinating!
