I did not look on Ancestry, F M P is normally my first port of call as the search is better.

Not looking good for that beach in the South of France at the moment :(

I tend to use both for searches, some are better on FindMyPast, others on Ancestry, although I do find the emphasis by Ancestry on American records to be a little annoying.

No - two abandoned holidays in two years - 2020 and 2021 - but then our bank balance is better!  We do have a motorhome so have our own "hotel" but the thought of being stranded - happened once due to ferry strikes but still not a happy prospect.  Better safe than sorry.  AND. luckily, I can blame someone else for our abandoned holidays.  ;)
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

We had an abandoned holiday to Scotland last June, don't fancy trying again this year so have provisionally used the deposit for a Devon holiday but may change our minds and just do day trips.
Time will tell  ;D
