From The Leicester Chronicle 17 March 1855

Caroline Starkey charged Ralph Oldacre with a case of bastardy. The defendant pleaded guilty, and an order was made for 1s 3d per week, with 17s 6d costs.

Excellent find willsy, the admission of guilt is a major win. I'm hoping Ralph Oldacre is actually 'Ralph Oldacres' of Carlton, Leicestershire (son of James and Elizabeth Oldacres) b. abt 1836 d. 1911. Given Carlton village's proximity to Twycross, it seems highly likely.

Twycross, Leicestershire

I'm assuming this is her baptism record? Another great find. Fun fact, I have literally nothing on Caroline, last record I have for her is in the 1861 census. Caroline's parents (Michael and Elizabeth) and her daughter Elizabeth are buried at Sheepy Road cemetery in Atherstone. I'm also now starting to think Caroline had another child John Starkey out of wedlock as he is also mentioned as a 'grandson' of Michael and Elizabeth in the 1861 census.
