Robert Harrison Cark/Cartmel
« on: Wednesday 09 June 21 10:51 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Researching the baptism my 3x G.Grandfather Robert Harrison born around 1791 in Cark or Cartmel.  1851 census says Cark and 1861 says Cartmel.  He was living in Ellenborough Cumberland throughout the census period.
I'm new to research in the Lancashire area so not sure if Cark has its own records or whether I should also be looking in Cartmel.
Any advice much appreciated!
Regards
Gail.

You may find this interesting - about the Stockdale family in Cark - it mentions the Harrison family ..
Research in Cark is difficult - it mentions a William Harrison from Ulverston who was a Surgeon and married Ellen - daughter of James 1st  - they inherited  James 1st estate after his death in 1807..

and it looks like to me the Harrison family married in to Royalty - could a more experienced member look in to this please -  :)
