Hi - Thanks to all, FYI, i had the opportunity to visit the Bristol archives and given i had the information about the date etc i was able to search the year for the bond and found it, therefore that would explain why i could not find it by searching for the bond under their names, it was the year that was necessary.  Anyway it did include his occupation (if anyone knows what a corn-factor would do and would this involve travelling abroad? please advise).  unfortunately no mention of his age, which would have been a bonus - but you cant have everything.
