Israel STEVENS (or STEPHENS) baptized 4 daughters in Newchurch, viz:-

      Elizabeth on 23.01.1745
      Margaret on 03.06.1750
      Anne      on 07.06.1752
      Sarah     on 25.08.1754

I have been unable to find any record of his wife. Can anyone help, please?

No marriage I’m afraid but one additional baptism for Israel on freereg.

I thought the gap between Elizabeth and Margaret was rather long; Jane fits in there nicely, albeit, sadly, only briefly.

With all those daughters, Israel must have felt like another Henry VIII !

I'd have put money on one of Israel's daughters having been given her mother's name.

I still can't find the marriage of Israel and Mary or the baptism of Israel. I've also had a look for the incidence of O.T. names in the STEVENS family to see if I can find any siblings for Israel, but nothing stands out - no Abraham or Isaac etc.

I believe that Martha qualifies as an O.T. name, but I'm afraid that she's in the wrong generation to lead us to Israel's origins.
