Farmley Estate 1920s
« on: Sunday 13 June 21 00:37 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have a connection with or any information about the Farmley Estate, Kilkenny. I am trying to trace my ancestors who I believe worked there in the mid 1920s.

Hi, a surname would help as there are a few in 1911 Census.

Thanks Maggsie, Unfortunately I don't have a surname. I'm on a journey to try and identify my grandfather who I believe may have been at Farmley around 1927. Thanks for your suggestion about the 1911 census it might give me some clues/links to DNA matches.

Various surnames associated with Farnley townland in the censuses, and includes gardeners, agricultural labourers and a land steward among the occupations.

1901 census

1911 census

This is likely to be the house associated with the Farnley estate and looks like MacNaghtens lived in it during both censuses.

Thank you so much for this information. I was having trouble accessing the census records. This is definitely the place linked to my family history but it is so difficult to find my ancestor without a name!
Thanks again
