I could very well be way off the mark, but I think he has an Asian/Far Eastern features.

I’m sure Jim’s dating is spot on, but I don’t think your chap looks any older in the first photo.   :)

It looks to me that Charles Henry SEEKAY was the son of Peter SEEKAY and Eliza and born Moama NSW in 1882 . #22656

This could be the death of the father Peter Peter SEEKAY

SEEKAY, Peter
Father  Wah Sue
Year1895
At Moama, New South Wales
Reg 1989

Perhaps an oriental heritage.

You are correct, Charles's father was from China, his father's name was Peter Seekay and his great grandfather was Wah Sue

Just surmising here in a vague way.

Some sources indicate that the mother of Charles Henry SEE KAY, Eliza NORRIS had a relatonship with another chap named BURGESS and there were more children.

This was before the death of Peter SEEKAY during late 1880's and into the next decade.

The hand on the shoulder hints at family ties and I wonder if the other man is a half brother to Charles, perhaps surnamed BURGESS or NORRIS.

Is that a Masonic ring the seated man is wearing on his left hand?

Emily, Charles and Alice Seekay, the 3 surviving children to Peter Seekay and Eliza Norris, never met heir siblings from the Burgess family.

Neither families knew the other existed. Eliza never knew her husband past away.  The 3 children lived with a friend of Peter Seekay, Mr Mclaren, until they became of age.

Charles came to WA in the early 1900's.  Emily arrived after 1909 and their sister Alice lived all her life in Victoria.

That's a sad thing. :(

The Burgess siblings must have thought her marriage to SEE KAY  was without children.

Yes it is sad.  From what I have been told, after some family gossip they found out about the Seekay siblngs, but never spoke of them.  Eliza simply left and never went back to see her children or asked about their welfare after the death of Peter.

My Great Grandmother was essentially orphaned at 14yrs old.
