Coronation Day was an official holiday, so no Post Offices would be open.

A quick search shows that there were official First Day Covers with decorative designs, just like today. Those could be prepared in advance, and are postmarked as 2nd June.

Yours, though it only has one of the four stamp designs, has the added interest of being used in real postage, with the knowledge that this was the first day, AND it also has the head of our previous monarch. Note that the crest printed on the Letter Card (remember those?) also has George VI's crown.

I love the celebratory postmark. Much nicer than the plain circular one used on the "official" FDCs.

These things might make it even more desirable to collectors. Even if not, it's a Historic Document, shedding light on a major event in our history.

So, real Treasure.  :)
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

Census information is Crown Copyright. See www.nationalarchives.gov.uk for details.

Among the  unknown photos  there may be pictures of his brothers .
I dont know what they looked like but one is in  scots military outfit so could well be the brother who died in Belgium 1916

I think the comment on inside page is priceless
I hope my cousins will reconsider and keep at least one
For their one descendant born this year David Hodge was  my uncle by marriage

So I'm happy to have my own  British collection and tin of loose stamps

I also have a box of stamps so I could add to the Roland hill album or to a Stanley gibbons one started in 1960's

My own collection has advantage of being in slide in folders as I was taught early that adhesives damage the backs

Here's first page of the two albums
To compare i.ll also post first page of mine and my cousins

The loose leaf file is eldest and some stamps are falling out

Should I try and use it to add missing stamps to the Stanley gibbons or Rowland hill ones which have black and white pictures to show which stamp to collect

Would that help preserve the collections or devalue them ?

another treasure trove today at my friends house

her collection of ladybird books  (including two copies of ladybird book of stampcollecting 1969)

she used to cover hers in thin plastic before letting children near them ...so they are in good condition

i wonder if they are saleable
she could do with some extra pennies

Go to a photo shop and buy two or three 35mm negative film archival sleeves.  Make sure they are archival and not just plastic they will protect them forever.
