Fifth day of February, 1595, I Thomas Crispe of Marshfeild make my last will.
Soul to God, body to be buried in the church or churchyard of Marshfield.
To son Elias Crispe 20 pounds.
To wife Agnes the use of one chamber in the house, five pounds a year, and meat and drink for her lifetime as long as she is a widow.
Also to her a standing bed, best flock bed, coverlet, bolster, pillow and other stuff.
The rest to Thomas Crisp my son, he also to be executor.
Sons Nicholas and Elias to be overseers.
To daughters Alice Ireland, Hester Crispe and Rebecca Crispe, to each a gold ring.

This is the will of Thomas Crispe of Marshfield, 1602, son of the Thomas above:

To Alice my wife that part of the house not bequeathed by my father Thomas Crispe to Agnes my Mother.
To daughter Hester 40 pounds.
To daughter Mary 30 pounds.
To son William 40 pounds.
To son Edward 40 pounds.
To son Nicholas 40 pounds.
To eldest son Thomas bedstead, bed, etc.
Executors my brothers Nicholas Crispe and Elias Crispe, citizens of London
Overseers my brother William and cousin William Webbe.

Soul to God, body to be buried in the chancel of parish church of Marshfield, as near as possible to husband Thomas Crispe.
To son Nicholas Crispe, money to buy a ring
To son Elias Crispe, money to buy a ring
Hester Crispe, daughter of son Thomas
Her sister Mary
Mary Crispe, daughter of my son John Crispe, deceased
Ruth and Rebecca Crispe, daughters of John Crispe my son
Residue to William Crispe my son, he to be executor

Not a will but a lawsuit in the Court of Common Pleas in Michaelmas term 1571. One of the plaintiffs was the elder Thomas Crispe.

sorry it has taken a few days to say thank you but we had a family death so not been able to come on for a few days. It is going to be very interesting reading though your posts. Unfortunately for you all, I think there are going to be several more of these to translate , I have now got back to the 1500s on my husbands family tree and there are Sir’s popping up everywhere with wills etc, once again just wanted to say thank you so much for your help.
