May Mussett Assistance sought please
« on: Monday 14 June 21 18:16 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anybody can help with my quest please.

May Mussett was born in Ash, Surrey on 8 November 1879 to Alfred Mussett and Mary Anne Dooley.

In the 1901 census she was living with her mother in Paddington

I cannot find her at all in the 1911 census and would welcome some ideas.

Between 1918 and 1928 she lived at 32 Compton Crescent in Chiswick and then seems to have fallen off the radar altogether. I cannot find and marriage of death records for her after 1928.  So any information here would be welcome.

Thanks

Mother's Maiden Surname: DOOLEY
GRO Reference: 1879  D Quarter in FARNHAM  Volume 02A  Page 114

That is a head-scratcher!

I can't see a birth for May, but she appears on censuses 1881 to 1901 ("Mary" in 1881).
Augusto doesn't appear on censuses and I can't see a death for him.

What is going on here?
Please help me to help you by citing sources for information.

So he appears to be female, perhaps May was a nickname.

Sorry  :( just realised she was christened 1870 not 1880 and she appears to have died in 1870 so not correct Augusto/ Augusta.

Looks like her birth also registered as Auguste Feedora in Dec.1879 but changed to May 3 months later when baptised.

Registrar's mistake, or could there have been a doubt about the sex?

ScotlandsPeople has
1928, St Machar
George Skakle + May Mussett
Ref 168/2 84

Something about it in the Aberdeen Press and Journal, 16 April 1928
OCR text problems, but May might be from Chiswick, London?
