John BIDDULPH born in Penkridge
« on: Thursday 17 June 21 11:44 BST (UK) »
Hi, have traced my paternal side 5 generations to a John BIDDULPH, born in Penkridge circa 1795. I have him in the 1841 & 1851 censuses but can find no other records/details.  Grateful if anyone can add any detail.   Thanks  ;)

Hi welcome to Rootschat! He is with his daughter Emma and husband John Wilcox in 1861 the age is wrong because its is unreadable on the census Mary was buried 15.5.1858 a St Michael and All Angels

I can't tie down a date of death for him though

FreeREG is good for Penkridge details

I would suggest you join

Ye Old Penkridge (Facebook)

We lived in Penkridge for 20 years and now are only a few miles away.  There are people on Facebook who use the Stafford Reference Library - and have access to many records.

Hope this helps.

Just remembered a website - as Penkridge had the Littleton family of Teddesley Estate

and if you Google:

Teddesley Estate Workers and Tenants

http://www.timespast.org.uk

There is this entry

BIDDULPH James 1867 - Penkridge, Old Workhouse, employed on Teddesley Farm

On the 1851 census, James BIDDULPH is aged 32 - and a few doors away in Market Street from the The Horse & Jockey Pub - which is still there today.

Is BIDDLE a variant spelling?

There are some baptisms on FMPast for children of John and Mary BIDDLE in Penkridge about the right
time-including Edwin(1828) and Emma(1832).
