Morgan, William: St. Thomas, Southwark, gent

The will for this man is offsite at National Archives  but it is one I have to order. Before I risk the £8.20 quote fee plus whatever the copying fee is I wondered if anyone could see anything I have missed that might  help pin his identity down a bit more.

The notes at TNA say the date refers to the date of the document, not the date of probate etc.  so he may not have died in 1749

I don't see any reference that seems to fit on London Lives, nor LMA, nor Ancestry.
On FindMyPast there is a burial 23 March 1749 at All Hallows the Great. but it is a transcription only and no help.   Isn't All Hallows on the wrong side of the river?
I cannot see a death or a report of the will (which is in Supplementary Will Series 1 "Most of these records are contentious" ) in the newspapers.

I am trying to track down the William who was father of David Walter MORGAN Baptism St George, Southwark, 1733 (died 1795) about whom there are many threads on RC.  In the hope that he is also the father of John MORGAN of the Inner Temple c 1734 - 1803

(Although the will of David Walter's uncle the Rev John Morgan who died 1776 does not mention any other Morgan than David Walter, I live in hope).

Many Thanks
Mckha

All Hallows The Great is Southwark area, south of the river.  As the crow flies it is between St Thomas's church and Waterloo Station

Who had to look at online maps to see where it was  ;D

It is a shame that they are not available to view easily.

F M P have Surrey & South London Will Abstracts, 1470-1856.  They are quite interesting as they are searchable by Testator and Beneficiary but I can't see any mention of David Walter Morgan

Thank you for looking Rosie.
I've been working my way through that list too.
I went to order the quote for the will from TNA today, but they have a daily cut off, so I have set my alarm for UK Monday morning 9am, so as not to miss out (I hope).

Good luck with Monday morning, I hope that it does not work out too expensive.  It is a few years since I visited TNA though I have to confess to visiting Kew Gardens a several times since then.

A very nice letter this morning from National Archives to say that this will cannot be found.  I imagine it is as disappointing for them as it is for me.
They do say if it turns up they will let me know, but they are not now actively searching for it. (They did notify me twice along the way that they were extending the search time, so I think they’ve had a good go). I suppose it has got caught up in some other document.
They are refunding my fee.
