Morgan, William: St. Thomas, Southwark, gent
The will for this man is offsite at National Archives but it is one I have to order. Before I risk the £8.20 quote fee plus whatever the copying fee is I wondered if anyone could see anything I have missed that might help pin his identity down a bit more.
The notes at TNA say the date refers to the date of the document, not the date of probate etc. so he may not have died in 1749
I don't see any reference that seems to fit on London Lives, nor LMA, nor Ancestry.
On FindMyPast there is a burial 23 March 1749 at All Hallows the Great. but it is a transcription only and no help. Isn't All Hallows on the wrong side of the river?
I cannot see a death or a report of the will (which is in Supplementary Will Series 1 "Most of these records are contentious" ) in the newspapers.
I am trying to track down the William who was father of David Walter MORGAN Baptism St George, Southwark, 1733 (died 1795) about whom there are many threads on RC. In the hope that he is also the father of John MORGAN of the Inner Temple c 1734 - 1803
(Although the will of David Walter's uncle the Rev John Morgan who died 1776 does not mention any other Morgan than David Walter, I live in hope).
Many Thanks
