American 'CSA' convalescents - Malvern
« on: Saturday 19 June 21 17:08 BST (UK) »
I have a photograph which has the legend '1944 CSA convalescents Malvern' and the name of three young women (including my aunt) and two men having a picnic. Perhaps there were three men - the third being the photographer. I know that there were several war-time hospitals in the Malvern area - I suspect these men were convalescing at one of the two hospital sites at Blackmore Park. My question is 'what does CSA mean?" Also, is it possible to identify the badge on one man's sleeve?

I can't help with "CSA", however there are 2 newspaper articles from 1944 describing visits of "convalscent English and American soldiers from Malvern Convalscent Hospitals" to Tewkesbury. They visitied in twos the homes of "W.V.S. members" (Womens Voluntary Service). One article in September, the other in November. Happy to copy for you if of interest.
