Thank you and I must apologise!

I'm new to this and I didn't know about the transcript service. I have palced an order.

I will wait until I get the transcript back before I continue.

At reply #4 I suggested that this marriage certificate would be useful to your research -

BDM NSW marriage
1972/1883 VAUGHAN     Robert   x.  EVERSON   May H(annah)  E(lizabeth)       @    Sydney

At reply #8 I have located this marriage record on Ancestry, and transcribed the information.  It is interesting to see that your  Henry William Livingstone VAUGHAN, at second marriage, 1883, has named his mother to be Elizabeth MINNETT.

You have not mentioned this name in your enquiry so it would seem that this name is not familiar to you?.

You do not need to buy a transcription of the 1883 marriage record.

The information on the earlier marriage of Robert VAUGHAN would be useful to your research.  Are you able to alter your transcription order?.

NSW BDM marriage
728/1876 VAUGHAN   Robert     marr.    PURCELL    Jane   @  Sydney

Also -

NSW BDM birth
169/1877  VAUGHAN Robert J H parents  Robert / Jane    @   Sydney  (24 Nov 1876)

death
600/1877   VAUGHAN Jane    parents  Thomas / Mary A   @  Sydney   (4 Apr 1877)

If this is your Jane VAUGHAN, then husband Robert,  father of baby Robert, does not marry again until 1883.

Who is raising this small child for 6 years?  Might be VAUGHAN family...or PURCELL family?
Interesting to consider while you wait for the transcription.

Where you have written Henry William Livingstone VAUGHAN I think you mean Robert?

The son Henry's second forename was Neville, not William.

There are a number of notices when Robert's wife May nee EVERSON died in 1921 and this one in particular references Robert's mother Mary BREWER

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/15938083

VAUGHAN - The Friends of Mr. ROBERT VAUGHAN SEN., and of LESLIE, EDITH, ALLAN, STEWART, and SYLVIA, and of Mrs. MARY BREWER, are kindly invited to attend the Funeral of their beloved WIFE, MOTHER, and DAUGHTER-IN-LAW,  which will leave her late residence, Leswell, Newman-street, Penshurst, TO-DAY, at 12.30, for the Waverley Cemetery.

One of the witnesses to Robert's second marriage was a C.L. BREWER (not entirely sure about those initials).

Robert Jnr. had a half sister.

Birth

VAUGHAN, AUGUSTA E B B
718/1868
Father: Not named
Mother: MARY I
SYDNEY

Marriage

148/1889
BREWER, AUGUSTE E B
CROFT, ARTHUR H
SYDNEY

Death

CROFT, AUGUSTA EMILY
24694/1937
Father: AUGUSTUS
Mother: MARY
RYDE

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/17401166

CROFT - November 14, 1937, Augusta E., beloved wife of Arthur H. Croft, of 27 Young Street, Annandale, and loving mother of Robert Stanley, and Sydney Frank, aged 68 years.

Electoral rolls show her full name as Augusta Emily Blanche, and I daresay the second 'B' on the VAUGHAN birth registration would be BREWER.

I love your work Debra! Great sleuthing.
I’m just adding some details about the Winnetts ….

Immigration records for the WINNETT family
1841 onboard “United Kingdom”
Richard Winnett, 28, carpenter, born Wicklow, protestant, read and write
Elizabeth Winnett, 30, House Keeper born Dublin, protestant, read and write
Children – all born Dublin:
•   Joseph 9 (born 1832) He died Sydney 1865
•   Mary 7 (born 1834) who we think married Robert Vaughan in 1852
•   Neville 3 (born 1838 ) He died Rockdale 1908

More children born to this couple in Australia: Henry Winnett 1843 -1902, Elizabeth C Winnett 1845, possibly others ....

There is a criminal record for Richard Winnett  (forgery) at NSW Archives which contains useful biographical information, and informs the family were in the Merriwa / Muswellbrook area at the time.
It contains a fantastic!! photo from 1873

While waiting for Chucky to get back with certificates,(possibly a little while with Sydney now closed down), I have been looking at possible Robert Vaughans ....
•   His marriage to Mary Winnett was Roman Catholic, even though the Winnett family were protestant.
•   His son was a printer – so likely he came from a background with education.
•   There might be some link to Muswellbrook district where the Winnett family were.

This one fellow below interested me, -  the marriage record for Robert Vaughan to Mary I Winnett might shed some light.
