Hooper Family Vault in London
« on: Wednesday 23 June 21 12:11 BST (UK) »
Hi. My Hooper family lived in Littleham near Exmouth in Devon and were pretty much all mariners or pilots. I had always presumed they were buried in the local churchyard but hadn't found any records. Anyway, I've just discovered a newspaper article for the death of my 4th great uncle, Captain Charles Hooper, who died 9th October 1889 Abbey Wood, Kent while on a holiday. It states he was buried in the family vault in London.

Can anyone help me locate this vault or point me in the right direction please. I'm curious to find out anything I can about this vault.

I have attached a copy of the death notice for reference.

Thanks Cathy, I haven't seen that website before. I suppose it depends how quickly the newspapers printed the family notices. It's only a few days apart :)

Wow, thank you Carol. That was very generous of you :)

I'm not sure who Ann Pick is, but Anne 19 April 1905 is his wife. She was Anne King ROWLAND, born Plymouth, Devon.

Hrmmm. I'm not sure what to make of that. This is the marriage notice for Charles Hooper and Anne King Rowlands. They are both together living in Topsham in the 1871 Census.
