David Watterson, death, after 1940, probably Victoria
« on: Thursday 24 June 21 01:16 BST (UK) »
David Watterson was born Nov 28, 1864 in Lisnamorrow, Co. Derry, Ireland to John Watterson and Sarah McCleary. He married Eliza Shegog in 1899 in Ireland and she died in Victoria, BC. David remarried to Henrietta End in 1922 and she died Apr 14, 1940 in Victoria, BC. David survived her and there is a David who died Feb 4, 1942 who is likely him but the death is not on the Royal BC Museum ARchives. Is there any way to find out if this is the correct David? Is there an obit?
Thanks
Peggy

David and Eliza arrived in Canada 2 October 1903 on the Tunisian - David described as a grocer. Going to Toronto.

There is another record of them arriving back in Canada 18 August 1910 on the Corsican and going to Winnipeg Manitoba.

1911 census Winnipeg

David Waterson   46 born Ireland. Salesman. Grocery.
Elizabeth Waterson   38 born Ireland.
Lewis Henry   35
Ella J Paterson   22

There is no doubt that this is the correct David. The obits add relatives to the tree, especially for Eliza, whose relatives really got about the world. I have that Margaretta married Isaac Clarke so she was in Victoria, and Matilda married John Sandilands who found her way to Peru, 1921 lists a George Chalmers Grant in Victoria with wife Charlotte Hamilton so she is another sibling. I wonder if  Hamilton was her middle name or a first husband. I have 13 siblings for Eliza. The brothers will be a nightmare to sort out with no first names given but then again, we are primarily interested in the Wattersons.
Thank you for all this tremendous info, including travel records.
