Death notice for father of "Mrs. Osborne"......

https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/NZH19380624.2.2.2?end_date=31-12-1938&items_per_page=10&page=3&query=melville+osborne&snippet=true&start_date=01-01-1938&title=ALG%2cACNZC%2cAS%2cAKTIM%2cDSC%2cFRTIM%2cKWE%2cNZH%2cNZHAG%2cNZ%2cTO%2cPWT%2cROTWKG%2cSUNAK&type=ARTICLE

I know you have been down this track but there does seem to be a connection between Rose and the illegitimate birth in 1918. [Reply #1]

William James OSBORNE  is  son  of  William  James  Osborne and Rose  Mabel Ella  HOLMES.
William  and  Rose married on 18 Aug 1919, this is second marriage.
William is  with  his  Mum  in 1949  Auckland  as a watersider , then I  find  him  with  [name removed as possibly still alive] ?? in 1974  electoral roll last   time in   electoral roll is 1981.

Hi kinky

Some questions for you :    ;D

Q:   How do you know that William James OSBORNE and  Rose Mabel Ella OSBORNE had a son named "William James"  ??

Q:   When was this child "William James", born  ??   Year ??

Q:    Why do you say "this was a second marriage " [William James OSBORNE and Rose Mabel Ella HOLMES - 1919]   ...   and which of them was marrying for a second time ???    Do you have the marriage record (printout or cert. )   ???
[Incidentally, "Rose" appears to have been known to her family as Mabel.
https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/AS19230129.2.5]

Q:   How do you know that it is in fact "William James OSBORNE - the son" on that 1949 electoral roll  ??      [Do you have evidence of the father/husband of same name, having died before 1949 ] ??

-----

Q:   And why do you say ["William is with his mum in 1949" ...  ] and then give names of two people from 1974 and 1981 electoral rolls ???

Incidentally, the two persons you've mentioned on the 1974 and 1981 rolls, may well still  be alive, in which case it is prudent to remove their names from this thread. ;)
---

I have some info which suggests the 1974/1981 male you mention, is very likely not related to the William James/Rose Mabel Ella OSBORNE family.
But first it would be helpful, if you could answer the above questions please.   ;)

     ~  Lu

Edited to remove name of a person who may still be living.

then I  find  him  with   ?? in 1974  electoral roll last   time in   electoral roll is 1981.

Cheers  Kinky

I tend to agree with Lu,  that the above is a totally different William.   I can't see a Watersider changing careers, they usually stay until they retire.

Cheers
