I was hoping for some help or guidance.

I can’t seem to locate the name of orphanage in Uniondale, South Africa circa 1946.

Would anyone be able to offer any advise?

Hi Paul,

Uniondale is a fairly small place, and I can't find any large institution there but there might have been something smaller organised connected to one of the churches in the area.

Do you know the religious affiliation of the family you're looking for?

Thank you for responding. On checking, there is now more clarity.

The person was born in 1943 in Uniondale but was sent to the Eastern Province Children’s home in Port Elizabeth around the age of three.

Would there be access to this information? The only information we have is date of birth and name of the person who lived in the children’s home.

There is a facebook page for the Eastern Province Child and Youth Care Centre - established in the late 1800's. Perhaps contact them. Maybe they would have some information or could tell you who to get hold of.
