Esther Dyer 1834 - 1914
« on: Sunday 27 June 21 15:07 BST (UK) »
Can anyone give me a clue as to when this photo was taken.  It is marked as Esther Dyer who was born in 1834 and died in 1914.  She's clearly an elderly woman but I don't think the clothing looks early 1900s?  I have some information on another Esther Dyer but she was the generation before, married Mr. Dyer and lived c1805 to 1883 so this photo could be her.

I would say this was 1870s and possibly into the 80s.

So, more likely to be the lady from the older generation.  Thank you!

Looks to me that it is Hester Mills who married Thomas Dyer 01 Sep 1825, All Saints, Bisley, Gloucestershire.

Yes, I think you are right and the 1825 marriage would fit with other information I have on the lady.  Thank you.

Do you have the date of death of the one who married in 1825?

I have a date for death of October 1883 and believe it is accurate but no certificate yet.

She does look in her late 70s, so the late 1870s/early 1880s would fit.
