Strange text messages

I sent a friend a text last Friday the 25th but didn’t hear back. Yesterday I had two texts which seemingly came from her, the first stating a photo/video message was sent but couldn’t be delivered etc etc, and the second mentioning an EE photo/video message and giving a link to open it.

Has anyone else had this? I’ve looked on Google and it appears to be ok, but my friend has now been in touch and says she isn’t with EE and the texts have nothing to do with her.

Have you asked if  they showing up in her text messsages?

But if they came from here number, they would show up unless her phone has been compromised and the messages were deleted or??....??

I've not really taken an interest in how text messages are stored/sent but I know that if I send  message to someone, they stay in 'My Messages' unless I delete them, or there is a time/storage  limit.

I will ask her if the messages show on her phone.

She doesn’t use WhatsApp.

She says the messages I got do show on her phone so sent from her number presumably but not by her.

She is on paye with another provider. I’m not paye.

Text between us seem ok now.

So someone has had access to her phone or  number either  physically or remotely.
