After getting some help re Peter Ferguson on scotlands people  I looked at his death cert it  stated Father Ferguson mother Janet looks like Niven.I have just used last of my credits on SP but still cant find a Janet Niven any help would be great.He died 1856 Kilmadock and his wife died 27years later in Kilmadock Thanks Kate

I've just had a look and I can't find anything either.

Coincidentally I have ancestors who moved down from the same place to Glasgow with the names of Thomas Brown and Janet Ferguson  plus children.  There is no sign of any marriage or children to those people and my specific offspring (Agnes Brown) born circa 1792..

The only sight I had of a Ferguson was a Ferguson who owned a local pub that was used to auction off some property.

Post Script re Kilmadock Parish in Perthshire.

I did hear that Sterling archives had some Perthshire records which I intended to follow up on, but unfortunately the matter is still in my "pending" tray

  I also found on SP his death seems his parents were James Ferguson and Janet McNiven or Niven Kate
