Michael Gilmore
« on: Wednesday 30 June 21 13:24 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find out more about a Michael Gilmore who served with the 18th Light Dragoons.

He was born in Dublin, St Paul's c1794 (as per Ancestry, but probable error)
He attested for an unlimited period at Dublin on 10 May 1800
(Deserted 25 May 1807;  Returned 10 March 1808)
Discharged 15 Sept 1814 due to a reduction of the establishment

Michael fought at the Battles of Sahagun and Benavente in 1808 and was awarded the GSM for this in 1850.

Apart from these details from the Registers of Regimental service and the Campaign Medal and Award Rolls, I can't find many more details for Michael in any census or other documents.

Any clues or ideas very welcome!

Dates don't look realistic- born c1794 and attested 1800  ???

Yes, it seems odd that Ancestry have an assumed birth year of 1794, doesn't it?  More probably 1782 as he is shown as aged 18 in the records.  I have edited the OP to make this clearer.
