Question for the North East of England contingent, please
« on: Friday 02 July 21 17:05 BST (UK) »
I don't watch tv, ours seems to be a bit broken as all it ever seems to have on is sport and dust.

Mr Boo is watching a football match and Spain is one of the teams.

Does any one else from the North East, who has listened to Spain's National Anthem think the main refrain is a slowed down version of The Keel Row?
If you haven't heard it , its here:

I'm not from the North East, but it is very similar, isn't it?
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

it is, but so slow its hard to sing along :-)

I'm going to take more notice of the national anthems when the football is on now, there may be a country somewhere that has Cushie Butterfield as their national tune :-)

I was raised in the Port of Hull on the east coast of Yorkshire and it now seems to me that every lesson was taught with us singing a relevant sea shanty.

The Keel Row was one of those songs and I agree, that Spain's anthem certainly sounds similar.  In fact I immediately started singing with the band
