There are newspaper reports of him playing for Sheffield Wednesday ‘A’ team in the late 1930’s.

But I don’t think that is the same team as Sheffield Wednesday itself. The ‘A’ team appear to have been playing in local league matches, not national ones.

He is back in Newcastle in 1939, which presumably you already know.

There is a mention in the Morpeth Herald and Reporter, 25 Nov 1949, to a match between Morpeth Town and Newbiggin. A number of references to a C Duers who played for Newbiggin. In the same article, there is also mention of a J Duers who also played for Newbiggin.
